Although blocking is also a valid choice, especially for the more obstinate ones. The Goth Writerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15029367394004757001noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4277272558920099975.post-2400434846520334112017-04-09T23:51:59.740-04:002017-04-09T23:51:59.740-04:00I love this post, especially the pictures! <3 &...I love this post, especially the pictures! <3 <3 <3 For the occasional hater that writes me on my work site, I simply block gleefully, though I occasionally call them out on their nonsense. For the uninformed haters (usually our conservative Americans), I like to hit them with facts and verifiable references to, shall we say, enlighten them, blatantly and publicly, preferably in front of their friends. How one person reacts to any disease is going to be different from the next. Plus pain levels will vary from person to person.

I have chronic migraines but don't use opioids to treat them - I can usually manage on my own. However, I have chronic back pain from spinal stenosis that generates such severe pain that I've blacked out in the past solely from the pain. When you have that level of pain, opioids are the only drugs that will relieve the pain.

With the new "rules" in place by the CDC my access to opioids has be impacted. My pain management doctor has moved me over to epidurals which provide a significant reduction in pain, but cost me $1500 each time out of pocket even with insurance. My pain is caused by 3 vertebrae that have degenerated putting pressure on my spine. With surgery at best a 50/50 chance of improvement, I'm in no rush to jump into surgery and will put that off until I have no choice. From the insurance perspective, I'm sure they would rather pay for a monthly prescription of opioids than a $100,000 surgery with a 50% chance of success.

I might add, I'm not overweight and keep my pain under control through yoga and constant stretching. I've been on an off opioids a number of times and have never shown signs of addiction.pa07960https://www.blogger.com/profile/15356284974686791728noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4277272558920099975.post-61699827351958997392016-06-20T03:13:45.929-04:002016-06-20T03:13:45.929-04:00Wow, this is about the biggest load of crap I'...Wow, this is about the biggest load of crap I've read in a long time... I was born with a lessor form of MD. Its called lessor cause some days I don't need my leg braces, or not confined to my chair or best yet, I can get off the toilet by myself. Pain I know and I also know that it's manageable without opiates.

This article reads that you're standing up for all the junkies in the world. Opiates are highly addictive and should only be used in extreme cases. All the junkies you want to keep high need to Most pain is correctable, but psychological pain lasts longer, therefore junkies will always be trying to rid themselves of their pain.

If you feel a need to bitch about why the world is full of junkies, attack the insurance companies. For them its cheaper to keep people high, rather than have to pay for the operation to fix the pain and all the therapy afterwards.
